Man this guy does no wrong in the booth. He got my mama worrying me when his new album drops.

Timing is everything. You’re talking some relaxing, substantial soul music then you’re talking Winter In America. I swear your immediate stress will decrease. You might catch yourself pondering how music went from this to the shirtless, dry-humping crooners that we have today. I was planning out my next heist, and after listening to this I wanted to hug a man! Listen to “Peace Go With You Brother”, then purchase it. Props to Bare Arms.
Gil Scott-Heron & Brian Jackson - “Peace Go With You, Brother”
Rahsaan Patterson dropped “Wine And Spirits” on this past tuesday. It’s a solid album. But “Pitch Black” is definitely a standout.
I had some (95%) of Jill Scott’s The Real Thing here, and had been sitting on it for a minute to write a complete review on Soulbounce in the coming days. Thought I’d share until the snitcherazzi showed their ugly faces. Above is Jill interview with “The Reel” parts uno and dos. Let me just say that the cd is amazing and fans and newbies will be very impressed. Instantly entering itself among the best albums of the year on ZS. And you know the kid has high standards. Record me in Wikipedia as the first person to have heard the album and say that.
And why hasn’t there been a mashup album been made yet? Somebody’s slippin’ on their fruityloops game!
Two of the greatest EVER!
Part 2 after the jump.
Is Mallz a prophet?
“It’s only a matter of time before Michael Eric Dyson has his own hip-hop record.” — Mallz
Which brings me to possibly the one out of a handful of hip-hop cds that you MUST purchase this year! Never Forget: A Journey Of Relevations not only features that discussion but collaborations from Talib Kweli, IRIZ, Lucky Witherspoon, Black Thought, Rah Digga, Ambassador, Paul Woodruff, Prince, Rhymefest, Malik Yusef, Neo Abyss, KRS One, M1, Lucky Witherspoon, Doey Rock, Killer Mike, Andre 3000, Jill Scott, Darryl Moore, Dave Hollister, Chuckii Booker, Gerald Levert (RIP), Waynee Wayne and Lenny Williams.
There’s a 12-minute jazz-backed discussion between the knights of the roundtable (Cornel West, Michael Eric Dyson & Tavis Smiley) breaking down the application, use, and possible non-use of the controversial “N-Word”. I’m appalled that I wasn’t invited.
Amazing…simply amazing guest list. If you are like me, I KNOW you were looking at some of the names like “DAMN???! How did he get such-n-such on a track!”
