Video: Erykah Badu Sings Happy Birthday To Raekwon

Written by Zillz™ on January 16th, 2008 in Zilla Says

Slick Rick on hand too. But chea, I was choppin’ it up with my homie from Street Knowledge who’s currently cutting up video from a Wu-Tang Clan performance (probably this one) and he commented on Erykah’s bootymeat. As you can see. And I quote.

    “She’s got a real phatty!”

Who knew this? Not me. This was the first time the kid had witnessed said cheek ‘ums. And then you know conversation broke down on how the bootymeat gotta be tainted with angle dust or smurf magic…y’know.

Ghostface Killah Drop In Village Voice

Written by Zillz™ on December 5th, 2007 in Zilla Says

Ghost confused me …like the Bible.

    Scooped from The Village Voice.

First Starks says how he respects Hov for creating the first full Adult Contemporary Rap Album with Kingdom Come and his perspective of his work:

…You gotta start talkin’ about more adult things. You talkin’ about kilos all day, it’s like, ‘C’mon, man.’ I gotta start talkin’ about—help savin’ the babies, man. And getting these women to be a real mother to they child, and getting these guys to start fuckin’ lovin’, respectin’ my women. You gotta grow—development. And your fans’ll get mad at you and shit, but they gotta understand too, man. That this is your life, man; this ain’t they life. I done gave you what I could give you when we was all livin’ in that world, but we ain’t doin’ that no more. You know what I mean? — [ Source ]

Then he speaks on his disagreement with Rza’s evolution and that evolution’s incorporation into 8 Diagrams. Rae made that same point to Miss Info.

…He wanna do what he do, when we trying to tell him, like, ‘Yo, man, do this or do that.’ His music wasn’t sounding like how it was when we first came in. And it’s hurting us. People want that old Wu-Tang shit, but you tryin’ to make new shit—tryin’ to play live instruments, instead of just goin’ to the crates and just do what you do best. You still a master at what you do, but right now you ain’t lookin’ like that master, ’cause you tryin’ to do other stuff. We were just upset with the way things was comin’ out.

Rob Harvilla (writer) recognizes the slight contradiction

…”We just need to go back to what we been doin’…If we not gonna go back to what the people — if you tryin’ to get somethin’ new, then do it right…Not just a beat with a bunch of rhymes goin’ different types of ways, and the beat’s not even all that, but you want everyone to sing on it.

New Music: Icewater - Knuckle (feat. Raekwon & Pimp C)

Written by Zillz™ on August 23rd, 2007 in Music

    Icewater
Pimp C snaps on this banger from Icewater’s Polluted Water.

Let me say, I’ve been blessed to have been listening to very good music lately. Icewater’s Polluted Water is nice. Strong Arm Steady’s Deep Hearted is insane. And I’m diggin’ Talib Kweli’s efforts mentionned below. Dilated Peoples‘ The Release Party stays on rotation. Remy Ma gets her props too. besides Shesus Khryst, what seems to be a disc full of tracks left over from her Terror Squad days has hit the net entitled The BX Files.

On the flip, that cover is quite trash. Send me $100, and some high resolution photos, I’d hook it up.

Raekwon Is Officially An Aftermath Artist

Written by Zillz™ on May 30th, 2006 in Music, Zilla Says

    Raekwon
“Love to hustle, my ring, call it Big Uranus.” — Raekwon
After (what will be) 12 or so years, a successor to OB4CL? Rza and Dre on production? I guess saying that the product of this better be great because anything short of amazing will be a true disapointment.
    From Nobodys Smiling:

According to wutangcorp.com (official site of Wu Tang Clan) Raekwon (AKA The Chef) has officially linked with Dr. Dre’s Interscope imprint Aftermath Entertainment. The site confirms that paper work was completed last week.

Both Dr. Dre and Flipmode/Aftermath emcee Busta Rhymes are reportedly working closely on ‘Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II,’ the follow up to “The Chef’s” critically acclaimed 1995 duet with Wu-Tang brethren Ghostface. Rhymes and RZA will reportedly serve as executive producers. The project, which has no release date at press time, will be a co-production between either Aftermath and Wu-Tang Music Group or Wu-Tang productions.

It’s rumored that Ghostface could only have a couple of features on this cd as opposed to being all over the place on the original. And GZA and Inspektah Deck are supposed to fill in. Y’know I’m a big fan of the Wu. BUT! Rae has an opportunity here and if Ghost doesn’t appear on the album more…*sigh* Bring Cappa back too. Well it could be worse. Somebody may try to suggest to put G-Unit…I’ma stop right there. Let’s get that thought out of our heads right now. Happy thoughts. Happy thoughts. And for your listening pleasure:
“Goldmine” - Busta Rhymes f Raekwon
    “What’s Beef” - Labba f Busta Rhymes & Raekwon
“State Of Grace remix” - Busta Rhymes f Raekwon
