BTW… Pete Rock and The Megatron Don want you to vote for Tor as well…
Do so. HipHopPalace.
Hip Hop pioneer Pete Rock discusses Biggie, Tupac and whether Kanye stole his style with UGHH’s Van Stylez.
Pete Rock judging Australian producer M-Phazes at the 2nd annual Standard Beast of the Beats that was held on Sunday, June 29th at Club Touch. M-Phazes, recent winner of Sha Money’s One Stop Producer’s Conference Beat Battle, has a big year planned with some high-profile placements in the works. Phazes is currently finishing up Coalmine Records compilation album where his beats are featured along with appearances from Pharoahe Monch, Sean Price, Emilio Rojas, Chaundon, Sha Stimuli & Termanology, CL Smooth, Skyzoo and more.

“A Tribe Called Quest meets Final Fantasy” — Panacea’s Myspace
Two of my favorite things.
Panacea is a hip-hop duo out of DC consisting of K-Murdock (Maryland) and Raw Poetic (Northern VA & Philly). Of course you know that I’m a big supporter of all hip-hop in DC, VA and NC. I’m still not ready to say hip-hop overall is in a renaissance, but Rawkus definitely in the midst of one. Panacea’s The Scenic Route is a dope record and worth the check. I remember their cd from 2006, Ink In My Drink and I thought that was phat as well. It is mentioned that they’ve been compared to legendary hip-hop groups A Tribe Called Quest, The Roots, Outkast, Gangstarr and Pete Rock & CL “Make My Beats” Smooth. Which isn’t far off at all. The beats are definitely reminiscent of Outkast’s spaceship vibe and the flow will remind you of Black Thought. If you don’t agree, you’re lying. If you have similar examples, you’d still be right.
The following track can be heard on their myspace page. But I provided the mp3 because some of you are so feenin’ for fellow DC’er (?) Raheem…I see you in my blog stats!
