How can you listen/read any of his speeches and not shed a tear? My eyes well-up everytime, because I know there’s much more work to be done. (Issues like Steering, Racial Profiling, Hip-Hop Police, The Prison System, Gangs, Bank loans, etc. I could go on for days…the matrix is no joke.) And I don’t expect it to be fixed within my lifetime. Hmph, I’m militant anyway. Celebrate this day, like you should celebrate everyday, in a peaceful, respectful manner with a heart full of love. Be mindful of where one comes from and where we all should be. In the meantime, I got something hot for those who wanna trip. Just lettin’ you know. Check out the links below.

“And you can live through anything if Magic made it.” — Kanye West
2007 Theme: Stop AIDS. Keep the Promise - Leadership
World AIDS Day, observed December 1 each year, is dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection. AIDS has killed more than 25 million people, with an estimated 38.6 million people living with HIV, making it one of the most destructive epidemics in recorded history. Despite recent, improved access to antiretroviral treatment and care in many regions of the world, the AIDS epidemic claimed an estimated 3.1 million (between 2.8 and 3.6 million) lives in 2005 of which, more than half a million (570,000) were children.
The concept of a World AIDS Day originated at the 1988 World Summit of Ministers of Health on Programmes for AIDS Prevention. Since then, it has been taken up by governments, international organizations and charities around the world. — [ Source ]

Even though this is a VERY serious issue, I would like to know, how did Magic get rid of it. I was visiting Sleaze, Cole and the godkids and Sleaze’s channel flippin’ landed on Magic and his platinum suit talking to the 106 & Park hosts…and I wondered “How did Magic lose HIV?” Did he EVER say how?
We all know what type of mechanism the settlers created Thanksgiving was for. So I’m not going to preach that.

If 2007 has shown anything in the vast landscape of the Internet, it’s that bloggers of color have power, and they’re using it.Whether it’s fighting the injustices of our justice system, debating racism in the media, the current immigration debate or celebrating our best and brightest, bloggers of color are a vital and viable part of the blogosphere who aren’t afraid to voice their opinions on a number of subjects, and are willing to take it to the streets in order to make that presence known. Bloggers of color are at an inflection point in the continued development of the blogosphere.
To that end, the Blogging While Brown Conference was born.
Our ideas and thoughts matter! With several other tech/blogging conferences such as SXSW, BlogHer and YearlyKos, it’s about time for something simliar for bloggers of color which talks about more than technology and blogging, but how to use the tools available to us with the Interent in order to influence and create change in our world.
The Blogging While Brown Conference will take place in Atlanta, GA July 25-27, 2008. Please check back for further updates. — [ Source: BloggingWhileBrown.com ]
