Yes, this song is old, but it's the most recent though. The true reason I posted up this video on this site is at the presence of a special guest legendary guitarist at 0:59. Y'all wouldn't believed me if I just typed who it was, so I'll let y'all see the man himself. Hint: This man "revolutionized" the color purple way before Lil Wayne turned it to a drink. This man is partly the reason why my long-winded name exists. He was a name, then a symbol, then back to a name again and his name is.... 0 Comments

Here’s a song called Sounds of Xmas that I recorded last year right before Christmas. Of course, I’m not one to record some corny Christmas song… I had to do something with a message behind it. I’ve always tried to do my part to help the less fortunate during the holidays. This song is dedicated to those struggling during this time! More than a few people have requested that I put it up for free download so here it is! The track is produced by my homeboy D.R. who had a CD full of Christmas songs that he flipped. Maybe next year I will try a new one.

While we're waiting on release of Dan Johns' Hype Machine EP, he was kind enough to preview a new track, through twitter, entitled "12.14.08" with Akshun.

This is a very rough draft of Akshun and myself doing a dry run at recording on the spot, in preparation for our planned weekend EP in late Jan/early February. Cap, an SC producer that was also in the studio with us (along with Encornelius and Lou Hall) produced this one. we haven’t added the scratches, and Cap hasn’t finished the beat, but we wanted to give yall a preview/leak, especially since I hadn’t written a rhyme in seems like 3 months prior. the song is named 12-14-08 on purpose. ha... -- [ SOURCE ]

So I went to the "Still High" tour (if that's not the name, it should've been) stop in Richmond, VA on Dec. 4th with my homegirl Killa Kellz and called EENJ up to see if they were going. It was a great night. We got to see Rapper Big Pooh, Chaundon, Joe Scudda, Method Man, Redman, Termanology, Shyheim, Canayda, and more. The weed too. It was a tight show that started at 9pm and didn't end until like close to 1am. I gotta say that Shyheim performed a lot of new material and nobody was feeling it. He had hands up one time. And that was when he did his verse on that "Co-D's" jam he had with Big-L like 11 years ago. That was my first time seeing Meth and Red perform and they did like a 45 minute set. They do know how to put on a show. Don't trip. Rapper Big Pooh, Joe Scudda and Chaundon did an incredible set. After that set, Pooh and Scuddz came by to say wassup. And Termanology's set was live too. The women were deep in there. Heels. Booty. It was all good but it was purely evident that they were only there to stare at Meth.

Rapper Big Pooh, Chaundon, Joe Scudda, Method Man, Redman, EENJ & Zillz

"Meth is FINE!" -- Kellz. "Bleh!" -- Zillz

    Potential highlights:

Kelly laughed for 45 minutes because some dude backed into a construction sign and then about 100 feet away some other dude made a left turn into a fire hydrant. She couldn't stop laughing and she couldn't park the car! She's probably going to start laughing again when she reads this.

Before the night officially started, there was this couple who were aggressively grinding / having sex on the dance floor. The dude did this matrix move that looked alot like he was breaking. And then shawty girl got low. I took a photo... don't know what happened to it. She got pregnant though.

After smacking the front row with water, Meth turned to EENJ and told them to put their lighters out. Hahahaha...they were the only ones with lighters up during the ODB tribute.

As Kellz was trying to get better pics, I noticed some dude walked up on her and he had his face all up under neck. It was loud and extra dark in there so I don't think they could hear or see me shouting, "BITE HER LEE! BITE HER LIKE A LITTLE MONKEY!" She emerges from the darkness. I laugh. Great show...can't wait to do it again.

Photos below are from the photography stylings of EENJ and Killa Kellz.

    Hustle Mill Interviews LEGACY

    »zillz s

...but NC Chainsaw Massacre I'm going in there will be a lot of offended people. This will stir some trouble up but fuck it (laughs). I'm better then whoever... - LEGACY

Here's a new LEGACY, of the Justus League, interview with Hustle Mill. Below are the excerpts word for word and check the word on his updates, his label, and what he believe is killing hip-hop today. Oh and there's a recommendation to you fans to listen to "Who Killed Hip Hop" by Joe Budden before reading this interview.

Listen to all 3 parts of Joe Budden's "Who Killed Hip Hop?" before reading this interview.

Hustle Mill: What's L.E.G.A.C.Y. been up to recently?

L.E.G.A.C.Y.: Just watching this world go round I guess...taking it easy.

Hustle Mill: I feel you, what have you been observing watching this world go round?

L.E.G.A.C.Y.: That the real guy is the new nice guy in the finishing last sentiment.
That's more so talking about the music industry. I've grown content with it though, I stayed 110% real all these years to no avail while the phony keep profiting.

Hustle Mill: Now seeing how the music industry really is, how do you plan on applying what you've learned to S.I.N Music?

L.E.G.A.C.Y.: Honestly I'm in the middle of revamping S.I.N. The industry changes everyday so you have to be willing and able to change with it. Until I find some "total package" type artists I can't really push anything as for the label side. We've been focusing on the promotion side of things and just started putting shows and parties together. Basically until I find some pure talent it's just a promotion company...a damn good one (laughs).

Hustle Mill: Before you decided to just stick to promotion, what happened to the artists you were down with before such as O.N.E. Jones and Blue Raspberry?

L.E.G.A.C.Y.: They were never "my artists" I helped O.N.E. out and still do, but I'll never brand myself as a manager per say, and Blue shit Blue has her own things popping off she doesn't need my help at all. What's more important to me is that outside of the music they are my family."T.H. We All We Got".

Hustle Mill: In wanting the total package, what do you look for in an artist? What is the "total package"?

L.E.G.A.C.Y.: Originality which is missing today in music...terribly. I need something innovative that I can believe in. They have to be authentic or a "real person" if there are any left. You have to built for this business and the majority are just not. I mean the road will eat you alive if you're not built for it. I want some cutting edge shows/music/talent for the most part, some future shit that will be around and have everybody stealing it until we drop some new trends and things on them.

Hustle Mill: Are there any mainstream artists or even popular underground artists that you feel represent the type of artist you would one day like to have apart of your movement?

L.E.G.A.C.Y.: No not really, nobody's really consistent and with the way that record sales are going hip hop or rap is dying a slow and painful death. I would shoot more for some alternative artists or dive into other genres. I honestly hate rap music these days. The mainstream keeps making the same auto-tuned copy cat dime a dozen bullshit albums and songs. Why the fuck would I want to hear some corny ass rapper(s) talk about how rich they are while gas is $5 a pop (NOTE: this interview happened right before the price of gas recently went down) and this recession is reality, and underground artists all they do is bitch and complain about how fucked up the music is instead of doing something about it. Even back in the day when some bs was on the radio I could dig a lil bit and find some new underground shit that was dope, not anymore. The artists that are suggested to me when I'm looking end up average at best. There are no true "artists" anymore...I mean don't care about the limelight they just wanna make good music like...hell like me. (laughs).

Hustle Mill: I'm going to name a few things (besides other hip hop artists) that could be killing hip hop, tell me if you think it is a problem or not, and if it is, why is it killing hip hop? Okay first one........ Are Major Labels killing hip hop, if so why?

L.E.G.A.C.Y.: Oh certainly they are...like a lot of people we are giving off a lot negative vibes or heat for Soulja Boi and his music. I personally have no problem with what he does I know it's not meant for me...say what you want about him at least he's original. The problem is the majors who signed blatant rip offs. Like some wealthy middle aged Jewish or white man saw the success of the "crank that" and decided they wanted their own version, and that happens everyday with these majors. If they can't get the original let's get the closest thing. Mainstream rap is a coonfest and filled with skinnin' and grinnin' and tappin' and rappin'.

Hustle Mill: Is the Internet killing hip hop, if so why?

L.E.G.A.C.Y.: Oh for sure it is (laughs). Personally I haven't purchased a new album from the store since like 2002. I've purchased a few old classics indeed, at the same time if I feel an album earned my money I will go and purchase that album after the download.
I have a list of a couple records that I will go buy at some point, but the DL game has tarnished record sales for good. Not just that but you have people getting signed to deals off of their Internet buzz which is a horrible look, because you use a robot to add friends or get listens on your myspace doesn't equate to talent. Internet's a 2 headed monster I personally believe it's doing more harm than help though.

Hustle Mill: Are the fans killing hip hop? If so, why?

L.E.G.A.C.Y.: You mean they're still fans? (laughs)

    Hustle Mill: (laughs)

L.E.G.A.C.Y.: And yeah I suppose so...like on the underground they root for the underdog but once that underdog starts getting over they turn on them. UG Hip hop fans are some of the most critical, fly by night, and non loyal fans period. Mainstream fans I just feel bad for them. I would hate to be a young impressionable fan and was forced to consume that trash on the radio or on the TV screen. It's packaged up by brilliant marketing plans and strategies, once again those middle aged Jewish/white CEOs, for consumption we look like dancing monkey puppets they get more rich.

Hustle Mill: Getting back on the part about the Internet, we all know it's one of the main reasons why sales are dropping, but you also said you feel that it doesn't help underground artists too, why is that?

L.E.G.A.C.Y.: Well, it does and it doesn't. It's good for buzz building and reaching a lot of people at once, but once again when you release that album the UG (Underground) fans are the DL (download) champions...so your sales suffer, if your sales suffer whoever put up the money to release that album suffers and so on and so forth. It also goes back to the artists, make an album worth buying maybe people will buy it. Internet is the devil
    (laughs)

Hustle Mill: What do you think could save hip hop?

L.E.G.A.C.Y.: New power at "the labels"...some fresh young blood up there that really have their ear to the street....oh and artist development. They need to bring that back, but more serious, more innovators, and less duplicators. Gotta put the "artist" back in recording artist.

Hustle Mill: If you could help save hip hop, what would you do to play your part?

L.E.G.A.C.Y.: Hire a well trained hitman (like a Leon in "The Professional") and just point him in the right direction. A lot of label execs would get it, carbon copied rappers, so called A&R's, crooked show promoters, a few people at Viacom, anybody that keeps sleeping on me (friend or foe), and pretty much anybody that had degraded and brought down the value of the music that I used to love would get plucked off.

    Hustle Mill: hah

Hustle Mill: So what's in the future for L.E.G.A.C.Y. as an artist?

L.E.G.A.C.Y.: As an artist I'm gonna make one more lap around the track. NC Chainsaw MassacreSuicide Music is supposed to be released. Honestly with the way the music is I just recently wanted to do it again...just started doing shows again and interviews I turned down more int's and performances then I've actually done in the last year, but NC Chainsaw Massacre I'm going in there will be a lot of offended people. This will stir some trouble up
but fuck it (laughs). I'm better then whoever...enough people haven't heard me yet, but i'm gonna get this material off then hopefully on to acting they're more accepting of individuals in that industry. mixtape with DJ Flash. Then sometime in 09 my official sophomore album

Hustle Mill: Who are you working with on the Suicide Music album?

L.E.G.A.C.Y.: Just Khrysis. All Khrysis, all me. The way it's supposed to be...no other rappers thus far. I wanted to get Phonte on a joint he was tied up, and we have a version of song with a singer on it, but don't know if we'll use it. It took us a while... I handcrafted the words, Khrysis slow cooked up a classic soundscape for what I do. Almost done, but we'll see how politics and bullshit ruin this one for me (laughs). Worst comes to worst I'll give it away if things aren't looking good there's no reason why this album won't go down as a real classic...like it dropped in 94 on cassette or something.

    Little Brother
Hey yo, I don't know if y'all heard the news yet. But Little Brother has recently been nominated for "[HIP-HOP] Group of the Year." I'll say it's about time and they couldn't have deserved it at a better time (except maybe last year...and the year before that...and even before that...). Here's the catch, though - the nominees-to-winners won't be pick by staffs or "worthy hip-hop panelists." Nah son, it'll be picked by YOU (and the rest of the voters)!!! Yes, you (and the rest of the voters) will help make the difference to who will win this year. L.B. will go head-to-head with peeps they're cool with, too: Kidz in the Hall, Re-Up Gang, Gym Class Heroes, Heltah Skeltah, The Cool Kids, Dem Franchize Boyz, and the legendary UGK (R.I.P. Pimp C). Go on and click the link below to pick whichever candidates you'll choose. It's free, after all.

    Phontigallo 2?

    »zillz s

...well I don't know actually. Or a better title? Let me know. But in the meantime, digest all of the work he's put out so far.

2008 might have to end with Phonte being the artist of the year. Two CLASSIC and RELEVANT albums, and enough features (peep below) that would fill yet another cd, and not to mention Gordon Gartrell Radio, who could rival the title.

Mallz and I talk about the possibility of a bonafied "Phonte" album enough to wonder if The Foreign Exchange albums and the Zo! And Tigallo album could be considered his efforts as solo opus.

Let me know what y'all think about that tracklist. 2 Comments
