While reading the Little Brother page on myspace, I noticed that 9th isn’t in the friends list anymore. And under the About header, it says:
Two guys (Phonte and Big Pooh) from Durham, North Carolina who make hip hop.” — Little Brother myspace.
Then I read HipHopGame like your other favorite Hip-Hop bloggers.
Pooh also addressed the rumors regarding producer 9th Wonder’s involvement, or lack thereof, in Little Brother’s Getback. “Little Brother has decided, in the best interest of the group, for Little Brother and 9th Wonder to part ways. There are no hard feelings and no beef. This is just a decision that had to be made so all three of us could move forward and continue to provide the world with dope music.
But is Pooh just playing around? Phonte’s interview with HipHopDx back in November already addressed the breakup rumors dealing with Getback.
HipHopDX: Now, you know when OutKast dropped Idlewild, everybody was talking about their supposed break up. So, now that you mention 9th will take a back seat to let other producers rock on LB’s albums, you know the media’s going to go nuts with Little Brother break up rumors. We’ll let you dispel those rumors before they even start…
Phonte: Yeah, yeah…Little Brother’s still a group. It’s still us, but it’s just for this record-we wanted to branch out and try out some new stuff. 9th understands that and he’s going to bring in something new to the table with his production, hopefully. Everybody grows and expands but it’s still a unit. But I know the internet’s going to be running wild with ‘Them n-ggas breakin’ up. 9th don’t tour with them.’ Cats going to be sayin’ whatever they wanna say. That’s cool with me. Just keep tuning the fuck in..(Laughs)
Spider-sense is tingilin’.
Read the rest of that HipHopGame joint and it states that they are leaving Atlantic. Good. Atlantic have no idea what to do with hip-hop. Also here’s a track featuring LB from legendary DJ Jazzy Jeff’s new cd The Return Of The Magnificent, called “Whatever U Want.”
