    2006 Best Hip-Hop Albums

    Written by Zillzâ„¢

From the mind of yours truly. Shh…I’m not above creating lists my damn self. From bottom to top.
    *sniff sniff* I smell hate.

    10. TI - King
The leaked version was better than what was on the shelves officially. A handful of tracks from the leak should’ve made the official joint. But TI had still has the best sell of the year. His feature drops are falling off though….
Check: What You Know, Throw Ya Hands, I’m Straight

    09. Tyrese - Alter Ego
Yeah I said it. Throw stones. Tyrese’s Black Ty mercked Meth on that track. And I’m impressed by Tyrese’s skills. He’s better than 99% of the South…West…East.
Check: Get It In, Fly Away, Alter Ego

    08. Jim Jones - Hustler’s POME
Surprise. Surprise. Surprise. I still don’t understand how women at the j-o thinks a guy who doesn’t look like he bathes is sexy? Another enigma, Jim Jones can’t rap for shit but got damn I listen to this cd back ‘n forth for like a week. And I really don’t like Dipset like that.
Check: We Fly High, It’s Reppin’ Time, Weatherman

    07. Rhymefest - Blue Collar
Roberto. Holla mayne. I’m still pretty hot that you NEVA came through on that Rhymefest drop FROM JUNE! JUNE! If I can get a Rhymefest & David Banner collab album, I’m thinking fire. But this was a sleeper from jump. Fest proves that he isn’t just a rapper, but a socially and politically aware individual who wants to make a change.
Check: Brand New, All Girls Cheat, Bullet

    06. Ray Cash - Cash On Delivery
All of you slept on this kid. Ray Cash’s album is a banger from front to end.
Check: The Payback, She A G, Here I Stand

    05. The Game - The Doctor’s Advocate
If Jayceon Taylor can stay away from rollercoaster emotions about other niggaz, and name-dropping, he’ll continue generating success with little problem. Either fuck them niggaz or fuck them niggaz. Do you.
“I fuck them little rap niggaz like virgins.” — The Game

    Yuck
And he has successfully created a banging album without any production contributions from Dr. Dre. We all laughed while a drunken Game unleashes his burdens about his love for Dre to Busta. Also with the aid of Just Blaze, has the BEST SONG THIS YEAR in “Why You Hate The Game.” Tell me you ain’t feelin’ it …you liar.
Check: Wouldn’t Get Far, Around The World, Why You Hate The Game

    04. Nas - Hip-Hop Is Dead

Mallz says Nas would get 4 to 4.5 mics from him. It seems that as close as Nas gets to Jay, his music becomes better. More focused. And Black Republicans was cool. How come Hov couldn’t spit like that on Kingdom Come sans that whisper shit. But that beat…ill. Nas picked up a name-dropping habit from The Game. I see the purpose of it though. And once again Nas mercks Jay. Was expecting more verses. We laughed at the skit that appears afterwards though.
Check: Hip-Hop Is Dead, Black Republican, Hustlers

    03. Ghostface Killah - More Fish
Got damn Theodore Unit is the best rap group (more than 2) out! Dope production. Hilarious skits. Ghostface, Trife Da God, Sun God, Cap, Rae, etc. killing it. Need more of that shit in ‘07.
Check: Miguel Sanchez, Greedy Bitches, Blue Armor.

    02. The Clipse - Hell Hath No Fury
Yeah I like the cd. But let’s put it where it needs to be. If The Clipse couldn’t rap about the same ol’ same ol’ that they’ve been spittin’ since ‘01, then they’d be useless. *shrugs*
Check: Hello New World, Chinese New Year, Ride Around Shining

    In a last minute decision…
tied for 02. Ludacris - Release Therapy.
I DETEST Money Maker…I thought Luda was better than that single. And most of the album were bangers! You’ve already heard Grew Up A Screw Up, Tell It Like It Is, and War With God Versatility is Luda. And all of 06 and 07 coke rappers can take a lesson from him. I bump Slap rolling up to the j-o. Look at the frown on the manager’s face…Priceless. Thanx Luda.
Check: Ultimate Satisfaction, Mouths To Feed, Slap.

    01. Ghostface Killah - Fishscale
Probably the top of everybody’s hip-hop list. They only speaking the truth…
Check: Whip You With A Strap, Back Like That, Clips Of Doom
